Among the weirdest weapons of the Renaissance are the swords, axes, maces and even shields with built-in pistols. This particular example, a morning star and three-bareled pistol, is known as Henry VIII's Walking Staff. At night the king would walk through London to check up on the city's watchmen. Once one of them arrested Henry, much to the king's amusement The Tower of London and its Curiosities

A Spanish sword-revolver from the 17th century. These were designed to kill wounded wild boar, traditionally hunted with spears

I thought the first revolver was invented in the 19th century?

The Germans were making primitive flintlock revolvers since the 1580s. However, being expensive and prone to chainfires, they never caught on until the 1820s

Belgian knife pistol used in the Crimean War and Franco-Prussian War by French officers. The pinfire cartridges were a big improvement over the old-style cap and ball revolvers

The blade of this halberd conceals a wheel-lock musket barrel. After putting a bullet into the enemy, you could close in for the kill without having to change weapons

I don't know if anyone else will know what I'm talking about or not but I just had the biggest epiphany about Final Fantasy ever.

The Belgian revolver i posted looks almost identical to Squall's gun. Here's another version with a longer blade:

Did you look up Squall's name or did you actually just know that, but either way I have to get one of those:)

It's a long time since i've played FF, but i remember Squall Leonhart and his duel with Seifer. Coincidentally, i found this photo of a pistol bayonet remarkably similar to Seifer's weapon

Wow. I feel so much better about that reference now haha.
I'm also very much loving this thread now and I agree thats fairly similar to Seifer's weapon.

The broken blade of an old Napoleonic cavalry sabre has been grafted onto this pepperbox revolver. Its owner was probably a hunter rather than a soldier as swords of this length were used for clearing foliage and fending off wild beasts

This swordstick was made even deadlier with the addition of a pinfire revolver. These were a French invention, but the weapon pictured was made in England http://firearmshistory.blogspot.co.uk/2010_12_01_archive.html
