I would like to post this topic dedicated to a new disturbing however growing phenomenon thats been happening in the West but mostly in the US for the last 10 years or so. We've all heard of Columbine but there other events that don't get noticed by the general populace except for the short immediate media hype of the event.
I think violence is rooted in psychological imbalances within the students themselves, poor parenting and a decay in significance of traditional institutions along with the guilt forces they rely on for effectiveness - to name a just a few things that characterize them. School shootings are also typified by the near homogenous occurence of the gener that is usually the suspect of the crime being the male side.
What's also perplexing is that the people who commit these crimes often lack any purpose or motive in it. Sometimes its an elaborate suicidal action with a last act of revenge against society.
Are these acts a result of the increasigly redundant male individuals in a corporate, hierachial world that we live in? Are these disturbed teenagers (not always but mostly teenagers)an indication that there is a steep decline in belief in tradition especially in the case of USA and that a "darker" future for society lies ahead?
