The pictures are gruesome. America should be ashamed of itself.
I don't think the world will ever forgive or forget this. |
I guess I should say muslims should be ashamed of themselves for the suicide bombings right? After all it was only a handful that carried out both cases, but by your logic the majority is the blame right?

We have a saying in Arabic that can be translated as: Now that you have a piece of mind of no punishment, you mischieved.
Who will punish the United States for this anyhow?
But I have to admit at least that the American system is far way better than most of world systems. At least once these photos are shown, some prosecution is followed. In some incidence, Americans are the one who would take the stand to show the photos for the first time (ex. the famous video of the killing of an unarmed injured civlian in the Fallujah mosque)

There is alot of media here that criticizes the government and the war, there is no way they could shut down any of the news outlets.
Though recently I found out why Fox news supports Bush so much. The Director of the news proudcasts at Fox news is President Bush's cousin.

I don't really think the incident had gotten to far out. It was a isolated incident, and it was investigated. This is something the US would not want to do, and there was no reason for it. This was a incident done by animals who thought toying with helpless prisoners would give them a good time. There was nothing political about it, it was just a sad incident done by a bunch of idiots.

I wish there was a way to know if these people will do such things before we send them over.

No apparently these pictures (and videos) have incriminated a few more people, lawyers are examining them.

These came from the same time line as the others. Twenty five officers and soldiers have all recieved some kind of punishment depending on how far their involvement was. The investigation was done to see how far up in the military ranks it went, even Donald Rumsfield was investigated.
About there being protests, there have been protests from the beginning of the war. Do you honestly belive Cindy Shehan has stopped her protesting? They aren't shown on the news because they don't break things, they aren't violent, and there is nothing to make news off of it so you won't hear about them.
My opinion, it's very disgusting. I'm glad this isn't something that the US military supports. And no Malizai, Americans don't support this thing. There are hundreds of groups in the US that complain and file lawsuits against the gov't for numerous reasons. I mean, there's even a group that filed a lawsuit on the US government for enviromental reasons just recently. We are very free minded people, we are individuals, and we all have our own personal opinions on politics. There's no way you could say we all agree with this.
A good example, look at all the Americans on this message board, we all very on our politics and we are always disagreeing on how things should be done.

What should they do then? Keep it under the table?
Why should the media report only atrocities committed by others on Americans and not the other way around?
People who claim this is all propaganda probably only care because it
is propaganda for the other side. If the media blows a terrorist threat
way out of proportion they don't have a problem with such propaganda.

Thanks for the witticism. Furthermore, I can't stand most of the "messengers'" messages and I do blame them failing to report the news as news without using it for their propaganda campaign. So what's your point? I have always had no reservations in amplifying my disgust at the American media.

The Washington Post has released new photos along with new information about the use of dogs on prisoners. |
An unmuzzled dog appears to be used to frighten a detainee at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. Two military dog handlers told investigators that intelligence personnel ordered them to use dogs to intimidate prisoners. http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/abughraib2.jpgAn Iraqi detainee appears to be restrained after havign suffered injuries to both legs at Abu Ghraib. It is unclear whether his injuries were from dog bites. http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/abughraib3.jpgA US soldier gives the "thumbs up" sign as she appears to be stiching up a prisoner's leg wound. It is unclear whether the injury was from a dog bite.
The Washington Post just released new photos (May 20), seen below.
http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/new-toture3.jpgA baton-wielding US soldier, appears to be ordering a naked detainee covered in a "brown substance" to walk a straight line with his ankles handcuffed. http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/new-toture6.jpgA US Soldier in a flak jacket appears to be using both hands to restrain a dog facing an Iraqi detainee in the Abu Ghraib prison. http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/new-toture5.jpgIn what appears to be a hallway, a hooded detainee, seems to be handcuffed in an awkward position atop two boxes. The frame seems to show the prisoner's ankle cuffed to the door handle behind him. http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/new-toture4.jpgAn unidentified soldier appears to be kneeling on naked detainees in a photo from the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/new-toture2.jpgA US soldier with his right arm and fist cocked appears prepared to strike one detainee in a pile of detainees. http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/new-toture1.jpgAlong a prison walkway, a hooded detainee seems to have collapsed with his wrists handcuffed to the railings.
May 19
ABC News has obtained two new photos taken at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq showing Spc. Charles Graner and Spc. Sabrina Harmon posing over the body of a detainee who was allegedly beaten to death by CIA or civilian interrogators in the prison's showers. The detainee's name was Manadel al-Jamadi. Mark Rothschild writes about the details of this poor man's death.http://www.antiwar.com/rothschild/?articleid=2615

These are just some of the photos that led to an investigation into conditions at the Abu Ghraib prison, once Saddams torture palace, and now run by the occupation authorities, as revealed in a shocking report broadcast by CBS on 60 Minutes II.
http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/torture3.jpgBrig. Gen. Janice Karpinski, in charge of the occupiers detention facilities throughout Iraq, has been dismissed from her post, and 6 U.S. soldiers face charges.
http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/torture2.jpg
"This is international standards," said Karpinski, in an earlier interview with CBS. "It's the best care available in a prison facility."
http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/torture4.jpg
Anybody can see that.
http://www.antiwar.com/photos/perm/torture5.jpg
Below, Brigadier-General Janis Karpinski, who was responsible for military jails in Iraq, and has now been suspended in the abuse probe, meets with Donald Rumsfeld.

These images are from the 60 Minutes II broadcast. CBS says that it has twelve of these photographs, though there are dozens more. Among them:
The Army has photographs that show a detainee with wires attached to his genitals. Another shows a dog attacking an Iraqi prisoner.
