Well, don't get me wrong....it's not like I came here to learn or anything....j/k.
I finished typing a short story in Creative Writing at school and I got bored. I searched for a history forum and this is one of the first things that came up. My forum isn't doing that great http://forumasylum.com (none of my friends are joining) and I decided to look at some other forums.

I don't understand what is up with the bash-the-French movement we have going now. My mom told me about a bakery that had to cover the word "French" on their signs with American flags (i.e. French Boule becomes the stars and stripes). Thankfully enough people complained to have the flags taken out.

And it's not only America - curiously enough Canada is being partly infected by this disease as well. And even if it is about Iraq, it is totally illogical. Germany and Russia are also opposed, but they are not getting blamed...

True, there's no "hate the Russky" or "hate the Kraut" movement.

Hey Kubrat! I have some Bulgarian ancestry too (not through and through
as yourself). It would be great if you get to post about Bulgarian
history, ancient or modern. Not exactly the most discussed topic and
it's hard to find decent books on it, at least here in the US.

I'll discuss, hopefully I won't sound biased or nationalistic, although it will probably slip in.

Hello everyone. I've been here since the end of August but just discovered this thread, so here's a belated introduction.
Name: Charles Kimball
Nationality: American
Ethnic Background: W.A.S.P. (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant)
Religion: An independent church that is part Baptist and part Jewish. I guess that makes me a modern-day Ebionite.
Date of Birth: January 7, 1959
Place of Birth: San Luis Obispo, California, USA, home of excellent white wines and Weird Al Yankovic.
Occupation: Teacher of a computer class at a community college, and editor at a publisher of law books.
Languages spoken: Only English fluently, though I know a few
others badly (French, Russian, Latin, Hebrew, Mandarin, Cebuano).
Location: Orlando, Florida, USA. That's why I don't mind
too much when AE goes down; it's still better than getting hit by three
major hurricanes in two months, with a near miss from a fourth!
Places Visited: Half of the states in the USA, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, the Philippines (my wife is from Mindanao).
Likes: History is my life, I've been interested in it for 35 of
my 45 years. Other interests include computers/the Internet,
strange music, astronomy, science fiction.
Dislikes: Internet trolls, smoking, people who talk everywhere on
cell phones or who won't control their kids, and stupidity in general.
Favorite Era in History: Ancient, pre-classical. Also
interested in Asian history in general, especially the Middle East,
Central Asia, China and Southeast Asia.
Titles in other History Forums: I was a millennial patron member
of the defunct AncientSites.com. I'm also an assistant manager
host in three forums at Delphiforums.com, and one at About.com.
Favorite Computer Games: Civilization II. I have written
two Civ II scenarios--Antediluvia (a simulation of the world before
Noah's Flood) and Southeast Asia I (Southeast Asia before 1500).
Both are available on the download page of my main website, and at
Civfanatics.com. I have also played several others; currently I
am stumbling my way through "Emperor: The Rise of the Middle Kingdom."
Names I use in Forums: Berosus, Raseneb
Political View: Neo-Conservative, a member of the so-called "Religious Right."
Favorite Groups and Singers: I'm a world music/reggae fan.
Try Burning Spear, Yulduz Usmanova, Hassan Hakmoun, Cheb Khaled, Ofra
Haza, and and Huun-Huur-Tu for a start. I'm particularly
interested in Rai, and anything with throat-singing (khoomei) or
didgeridoos.
Favorite Number: Not sure, 3 or 7 perhaps?
Favorite Colors: Green, the color of life.
Favorite Dish: Anything hot & spicy gets my attention, like a fiery curry.
Favorite Proverb: It's in my signature. "Nothing truly
great is achieved through moderation," by M.A.R. Barker, a retired Urdu
language professor and creator of the game "Empire of the Petal Throne."
Favorite Movies: The Gods Must be Crazy, HAWMPs!, The Star Wars
and Star Trek series (though I haven't seen all of the latter yet),
Lord of the Rings (the Peter Jackson version, not the awful cartoon by
Ralph Bakshi or the somewhat better one from Rankin-Bass).
Future Plans: Mainly improving the standard of living for my
family, as I'm apparently older than most of you. Visiting
Madagascar would be nice, too, as that's the most exotic country I'm
aware of.

If its a disease then Im the original pathogen, I started the ake fun of the French movemetn before it was ever even remotely popular.
Unfortunatey now that it is I no longer have fu making fun of the French because its no longer MY thing. Ive moved much closer to my own ethnic roots of recent and now Im more of a make fun of the Japanese kinda guy.

I said 'there' didn't I?
Or are you referign to something else.
The French once tried an invasion of Wales in the late 1700s, near
Fishgaurd. They were stopeed hy a bunch of women in the tradtional red
outfits Welsh women used to like to wear.
Not exactly good for France's record
