Hey Kubrat! I have some Bulgarian ancestry too (not through and through as yourself). It would be great if you get to post about Bulgarian history, ancient or modern. Not exactly the most discussed topic and it's hard to find decent books on it, at least here in the US.

Hello everyone.  I've been here since the end of August but just discovered this thread, so here's a belated introduction.

Name:  Charles Kimball

Nationality:  American

Ethnic Background:  W.A.S.P. (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant)

Religion:  An independent church that is part Baptist and part Jewish.  I guess that makes me a modern-day Ebionite.

Date of Birth:  January 7, 1959

Place of Birth:  San Luis Obispo, California, USA, home of excellent white wines and Weird Al Yankovic.

Occupation:  Teacher of a computer class at a community college, and editor at a publisher of law books.

Languages spoken:  Only English fluently, though I know a few others badly (French, Russian, Latin, Hebrew, Mandarin, Cebuano).

Location:  Orlando, Florida, USA.  That's why I don't mind too much when AE goes down; it's still better than getting hit by three major hurricanes in two months, with a near miss from a fourth!

Places Visited:  Half of the states in the USA, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, the Philippines (my wife is from Mindanao).

Likes:  History is my life, I've been interested in it for 35 of my 45 years.  Other interests include computers/the Internet, strange music, astronomy, science fiction.

Favorite Dish:  Anything hot & spicy gets my attention, like a fiery curry.

Favorite Movies:  The Gods Must be Crazy, HAWMPs!, The Star Wars and Star Trek series (though I haven't seen all of the latter yet), Lord of the Rings (the Peter Jackson version, not the awful cartoon by Ralph Bakshi or the somewhat better one from Rankin-Bass).

Future Plans:  Mainly improving the standard of living for my family, as I'm apparently older than most of you.  Visiting Madagascar would be nice, too, as that's the most exotic country I'm aware of.

Bah, French bashing goes way back, its an English thing, you yanks got it from there, present political circumstances gave you the perfect excuse to revive it.
