Hello, can someone provide me with the information of the political situation of Centralasia in the year of 500 AD.
What states were there and which regions they rulled?
What tribes lived in Centralasia and in which regions?
Where was the etnic border between Iranian and Turkic speaking people?
Especially I want to know the locations of Khazars, Avars, Magyars and Western Gokturks in the year 500 AD?
If someone has a good map of Centralasia around that year in which all
these states and tribes are included, then please post it!!!

I hate these daft maps that include states from different time periods!
We don't really know the boundaries, as there are no contemporary maps
and very little written history to work from. There wereno clear
ethnic or linguistic borders as such, different tribes and clans were
intermixed and nomadic routes often crossed. Each 'state' or
'empire' would take on the identity of it's leading group but include
other ethnic and linguistic groups.
There were also many small states (and several quite substantial) based
on cities, oasis etc that were quite independant yet located in the
middle of a nomad state.
