In the movie Deuce Bigalow, the European Gigolo,  this guy Deuce and a friend are in a socalled coffee shop in Amsterdam, where they enjoy some local cannabis products. Deuce freaks out when a police officer steps in but the latter is just friendly giving them a light.

This picture of Amsterdam is not far of the truth.  Since the 70s the Netherlands has an official toleration policy ( Dutch: gedoogsysteem) regarding cannabis. Adults ( 18 years) can buy, possess  (not more than 5 gram concentrated stuff)and use cannabis products . Growing five plants for personal use is allowed as well.

A state of the USA (originally one of the Netherlands' biggest critics) seems to go a step further. If I understand correctly, in 2018 California will not just tolerate but even legalize the buying, use and possession of cannabis.  And is it really up to an ounce ( 28 gram)? Thats nearly six times the amount which is tolerated in socalled progressive Holland.

Just expressing my amazement. - -
