This necklace was given to me as a gift from someone who bought it from South Africa. Lets just say the person who gave this to me is no longer around.  I would like to know if this is just a random design or if there's some actual meaning behind it.

The design is ageless and found globally. Meaning might depend on where it came from and which people made it.
