My uncle emailed me this collection of short film clips. I find them interesting and entertaining. Perhaps we can post more links to military aviation here as we discover them.

I was amazingly lucky to get a ride on a C-47 (DC-3) a few weeks ago. I travel to a lot of air shows with my brother, who owns a small plane. The actual plane I rode on is shown in the following pictures. It is called "Sky King", and it helped drop the US 82 Airborne Division at Normandy. It also helped drop the British 1st Para during Market Garden.

Here is a site showing other C-47s:

At Operation Market Garden, gliders like the Waco were towed behind enemy lines to bypass the defences of the Siegfried Line

Sorry, Nick, but the Siegfried Line is at the opposite end of Germany from Holland.

Technically, wouldn't the ME263 be a plane as it has engines on its wings?

It began it's career as a glider - the Me 321:  The Germans had to develop the Heinkel Zwilling to tow the beast.
