 Porter Rockwell was a famous Old West gunslinger who acted as a bodyguard to Mormon leaders Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. He invented the snub-nose revolver or "belly gun" and grew his hair long like Samson as he believed it would protect him from bullets. He killed many people, including Lilburn Boggs and the Aiken brothers, but always maintained they were bad men who deserved to die ------------- Me Grimlock not nice Dino! Me bash brains! |

To clarify: Rockwell did try to kill Boggs but failed. The Missouri governor responsible for expelling the Mormons died of old age in 1860

Rockwell might have looked like a wildman but he was a devoted family man, deeply religious and always polite to women. On the other hand he had a strong sense of right and wrong and, during his time as a Danite vigilante, killed those who crossed him without remorse. ------------- Me Grimlock not nice Dino! Rockwell was accused of the attempt on Boggs' life, but iirc the charges were dropped for lack of evidence.
In his defence, Rockwell reportedly advanced the fact that Boggs was still alive. "If it really had been me, he would be pushing up daisies as we speak" or words to that effect. ------------- Mike Stone, Peterborough, England. Always drink upriver from the herd. |
