Tomorrow is Palm Sunday: the start of Holy Week. On this day Christ entered Jerusalem on a donkey, fulfilling the prophesy from Zechariah 9:9:

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he [is] just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

It draws upon ancient Jewish myth. The Messiah could be a warrior king on a white horse or a peacemaker on a donkey. Christ chose to be the bringer of peace

I always thought Jews didn't look upon Jesus as Messiah, mostly because he did not fulfill the messianic prophecies. Or this is wrong, Nick ?

The Jews are still waiting for their Messiah. However, Christ was a Jew, as were the Palestinians who followed him. Christianity is an offshoot of Judaism resulting from a split when some Jews accepted Jesus but others rejected him

Why did the crowd turn against Jesus? They welcomed him as a liberator but a week later they were baying for his blood and demanding the Romans freed Barabbas.
