There is a discussion in this thread: http://www.allempires.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=28276 - My one day trip to Varena about these shapes on the earth, I think I have to belieave that the ancient rectangle fortress of Iraj (Varena) or the very precise circular citadel of Gur were not built by human being!!

As I said in that thread the reason can be that there are also large number of circular and rectangular similar shapes in the deserts of Iran where absolutely no one lives.

For example look at http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=%2B34%C2%B0%2051%2032.89%2C%20%2B51%C2%B0%204%2056.15&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl - this one :

They really seem to be exactly symmetrical, not only circles but above lines, there are several kilometres distance between these two and I don't think that they could have formed naturally, so who built them? and how?

If one is to consider the straight lines above the circles, then one might well consider that we are looking at two eyes with eyebrows?

So, for the sake of my sanity, I would presume that these are some kind of Persian "crop circles?"

Yes it really looks like two eyes with eyebrows, the wonderful thing for me is the similarity of these two:

The more I look at it, the more it looks like it has to be a military site! Maybe the Iranian or old Persian air forces used it for training?

Thus pilots were vectored into their bombing or straffing runs, by following the course of the "eyebrows", and then made their turn towards the circles, at a pre-determined altitude, etc.?

I really doubt that these lines and circles are ancient! I would guess the 1950's or later!

There seems to be several "X" shapes near the circles, someone playing Tick Tack Toe with a bulldozer?Wink

I have to reiterate my opinion that these lines and circles, have some kind of military relationship (firing or bombing ranges, paratrooper training?), or maybe even mapping via aircraft, or oil exploration, etc.?

Certainly no one has come up with a better explanation!

So, I am willing to bet two Groats that I will be proven correct!

Ron

I have sat and looked on google earth quite a bit and can not find these structures. Since google earth provides precise coordinates, would you please include coordinates, so it is simple to find them
