I need to find a Christmas gift for a Luxembourger friend who is keen about history (and is an official guide in Luxembourg) without being all that knowledgeable about it. Either something that does not demand too much prior knowledge or some sound historical fiction would do, preferably European late medieval or early modern.

The kicker (and this is why I'm asking) is that she prefers reading German.
 
Any recommendations gratefully accepted.
