At April 5th 1908 the German Football Assosiation played the first International match at Basel (Switzerland). The Germans lost the match with 3:5, but it was the beginning of a unique success story in the european football.

The german team made 800 matches since then, where of they won 457, 164 ties and 179 defeats.
Next to Brazil the Germans made the best performances at the WC tournaments.
7 times they were in the finals and won 3 championships.

Congratulations.....

1954 the miracle of Bern

England's trauma. For the team from the island it's even nearly unpossible to win by regular goals. Sometimes they therfore need the support of swiss refs and russian linesmen!!

it has to become the best yet again, first winning another WC and eventually catching up with Brazil.
