Ferdowsi's Shahnameh.
Livy's early History of Rome.
Movses Khorenatsi's History of Armenia.
etc....

Most nations have produced an epic historical account, mixing myth with pseudo-history. It is a common way of filling in the gap before genuine documents existed.
