Anyone else agree that France's bemoaning an anglo-saxon cultural hegemony is slighty ridicolous? Obviously, noone (least google) prevents them from digitalizing their own libraries - quite the contrary, actually.

Anyone else find it strange that English speakers seem to ignore the existence of other languages?
How often do non-English language songs make it into the charts in English speaking countries?
Or what about movies? The few that make it always seem to be dubbed, i guess subtitles are too degrading.

The French maybe very anal, but they are right about English language arrogance, its as bad as their hone grown variety, and nothing annoys an arrogant person more than another arrogant person.

Yeah, the English speakers in Turkey hardly try to learn Turkish, as if everyone has to speak in English...

On the other hand, when I ask a French man/woman something in English they clearly understand it but they answer in French. This is very annoying. Only when I speak Turkish in turn, they speak in English
