One on one though, the tiger had a high-velocity 88mm and excellent A better comparison with the kingtiger would be the Soviet IS-2 tank (Ioseph Stalin 2), which while intended primarily for attacking infantry, was still a match in armament and armor to the kingtiger.

Yup...... Always worth mentioning, the Josef Stalin tanks were infantry tanks and never designed to engage Tigers. The amount of times you see ISIII or ISII vs Tiger posts.....

The tiger and for that matter the panther and the kingtiger were way superior to any tank that the americans or the british could throw at them.

I'm sure you already know....... The British/Americans had 3 tanks capable of engaging big german tanks, though not until 1945.
A few M-26's saw the last couple of months of the war and were a match for Tiger I's but was unable to Penetrate Tiger II's from the front. So were abandoned because they were largely in the same boat as the Sherman when attacking a Tiger II but a much greater cost in resources.
The Comet was the only big allied tank to fight in any kind of numbers, it didn't arrive until 1945, outclassed Tigers and Panthers in most respects but also couldn't penetrate a Tiger II.
The Centurion was the only allied tank capable of taking out a Tiger II but arrived too late, only a few weeks before the war was over so never had the chance.
