Is there any country who has dominant Romaniotes Jew culture?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romaniotes

It is not like viki says, the article is so greek-centralist. They are Roman jews who have stayed in Levant, Turkey and Greece. However when the sephardi jews came to these area during the Ottoman period. They could been turn a minority.

Examples:
Turkey:Sephardi Jews
Israel:Ashkenazi Jews
Yemen:Mizrahi Jews
?: Romaniotes Jews

What about Cyprus, Greece, Lebanon and  Syria? Are they Sephardi too?

A turkish article about romaniotes (romanyot in Turkish) family in Turkey

You might find this of interest. It provides numbers...history of settlement and commentary.

It is a little bit useless for my research. I gave up, if anybody in viki doesn't know their number, it is hard to believe that they are a dominant jews in some where.

Maybe in Greece but, Salonica was Sephardis.

Notes about Romaniotes
*Their total population was 100.000(10% in İstanbul) before Sephardis came to Ottoman Empire.

*Coppersmith and sericulture were popular works in Romaniotes community.

*Language: Yevanic (just 50 speakers)

It is not possible. The dominant culture in Israel is definitely Ashkenazi culture, not Romaniotes.

I have found the answer: Greece. The dominant jew culture in Greece is Romaniote culture

There are 11.000 Romaniote
There are just 6000 Sephardi,  according to different sources in wiki

Jewish culture was actually very colurful. Romaniotes are pink in the map

But today there are just three main branches, but I still believe that Greece should be land of Romaniotes

Is there a possibility that " Romaniote " has been confused as "Gypsies?"   Actually they were confused with "Egyptians" who were also called Gypsies!

Sorry, no. Romani people (Gypsies), Romanian people, Romaniotes people or Rum people (Greeks in Turkish) are different. The only common thing is Roman Empire Big smile
