The map of historical peninsula (old city-inside the walls) and my route

PART 1

We are entering the city by passing the towers

These bad reconstructions are criticized by UNESCO- Statue belongs to mother of Atatürk

Armenian Church and nice flower figure on the armenian tomb

Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia(left side). They are in Europe but hills behind them are in Asia.

Eurasian coots and thier habitat map. These are possible russian coot and have came to Turkey just for winter

This is the only part of walls which is near the sea.

Memorial of friendship between Turkey and Turkmenistan.

This is showing the biggest passenger port of İstanbul. After the Byzantine port, there wasn't any Ottoman port near Marmara coast. The green area was a Byzantine port which was filled (Istanbul-1922)

If you check the map, you can see my point. All ports were in Golden Horn.

Now I am going away from the sea

the first house is very cool which was built in 1932. Second picture is an other Armenian Church

in this time, a greek church

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Byzantine_Constantinople_eng.png

The base of column in forum Arcadius. Second one is Bodrum Mosque, a old church.

this is the normal praying position. Mosques should reference Kabe, however, Byzantine churches reference East. so people in side the bodrum mosque are making line not straight as in the picture, they are making cross line.Big smile

This is a cistern near the church-mosque and as you see, russian is very common in table languge. This place is near the area called Laleli which is famous with leather goods.

You can see the Galata on map

different plants on Ottoman fountain

Wall of Galata

Lion figure, I think it is from Latin period of Constantinople. This is Arab Mosque which built during Arab attacks. Later, it had converted catholic and then ortodox church

This place, especialy sea side is still commercial area. You can see history and shops(not touristic ones) mostly about machines and electric-electronic

a few meter laters the zone of banks begins. This is part of Galata, Ottoman bank zone and probably it has been lasting since Genoa period

entrence of old british sailor hospital, guess when it was built? (Ans:1904) Big smile
