what are your thoughts, on the idea, that the man[[or pre-human]] that had the zeal/passion/need for something greater/etc. was more intelligent[[in the general sense]] than the one who just wanted to subsist?? ...and maybe, that hard charger, [like Gorden Gecko{spell?}spread out to explore, wanting something more/better, instead of subsisting on the treadmill of blandness.......
The urge to explore and see what exists on the other side of the horizon may be unique to mankind? It might be the only explanation for the spread of the Human species to almost all parts of the world at very early times?
