Hello all, I am a new member and I have a question that is probably not directly connected with the Moors but has to do with modern Spain and I wasn't sure about whether I should start a new topic or not.
There are currently two "Comunidades Autonomas" is Spain with Castille as part of their name: Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha.
I know that Castille and León were eventually united sometime in the 13th century, and I get confused by the fact that there is one entity called Castille and León (which means to me that this entity should encompass that whole Castille and the whole León regions) and then one more entity with Castille as part of its name.
So my question is: does this modern split reflect a historical reality, or was it only decided on practical reasons (as in the case of Nantes being left outside the modern Bretagne region of France despite having been part of Bretagne throughout its history)?
