All of these west African cultures are connected, and created what we would call the Benin Empire. Most African Americans would more and likely be descendants of many of these people. There needs to be more work done in this area because they are always finding new things.

Many racist would like to say blacks never built anything, or had any empires, but we did. As usual it was always destroyed, or interrupted by European, Spanish, or British conquest.

- Advanced life like sculpture, art,
- Military (legions)
- Trade routes etc
- Kings, and a structured Dynasty lineage
- Court life
- Secret writing language for high ranking people only
- Court life sophistication like any other empire ( Europe etc)
- Their own religion, and calender

Something else to note Yoruba metal art of the mediaeval period was rivaled the art of Europeans. One scholar wrote in this book wrote that Yoruba art “would stand comparison with anything which Ancient Egypt, Classical Greece and Rome, or Renaissance Europe had to offer.”
