But I would like hear opinions of more knowledgeble members.

So far, I have encountered both classifications. Which one is more correct?

I am not an expert either, but I am pretty sure it is Tai-Kadai.  There are debates on whether Tai-Kaidai has its roots planted in Austronesian, Austroasiatic, or Sino-Tibetan language families.

Perhaps nobody knows. It's quite an exotic language for most of us and I haven't spotted anyone from Thailand here yet.Smile

Well. It's not supposed to have a lot of Chinese loan words in theory. The point was primarily about the grammar, not vocabulary. That is the main criteria for language groups classifications.
