  Hi Tobodei:

are you talking about the guy dressed in color green ?

If so, what you see is an umbrella used as a banner. Just like the japanese banners tied on their backs. Used to show their rank and dignity.

How does he fights ? With a lot of bravery otherwise he could be captured.

  Regards

The Maquahuitl it was used as sword, mace or axe by the Aztec Warriors. The Blades are made of a volcanic stone named Obsidiana.

Don't be fooled by it's primitive appearence. The Maquahuitl could less efective used agaisnt a man in armour, but could behead a horse with a strong stroke.

With respect to Incas, they invaded half my country, Chile, during the 15th century, from the north. That was during the rule of Tupac Yupanqui. However, my fierce ancestors, the Mapuches, stopped them still. They also stopped Spaniards.

Actually, the Mapuches never gave up. They defeated the armies of Inca Tupac Yupanqui (the Inca conquestador). Now also killed in battle the Spanish conquistador of Chile himself :)

More Spaniards died in those wars against the Mapuches that all the ones the lost all over the Americas. Chile was called the Indian Flandes, and that say it all. It is not casuality that Mapuches are the only Native people who are the protagonists of an Epic Poem: La Araucana of Alonzo de Ercilla, which was even mentioned in Don Quixote :)

Mapuches where only defeated by Chilean and Argentinean armies with guns and organization of the times after the U.S. civil war. And they are even today  fighting, sporadically, against private and abusive enterprises.

Today just with rocks against tear gases, though.

We, Chileans, sincerely admire them.

Actually it is not for ranking (although one would have to be of a certain rank to have one). Ranking was indicated by the wearing of various apparel - crests, headgear, shield decorations, distinctive capes, tunics, and so on.

The thing on his back is a cuachpanitl, a standard, worn by unit leaders to designate the location of their units - either so that their men could rally if they were separated or scattered or so friendly units could see where their allied war-bands were.

When fighting wars, the Aztecs' aim was to capture prisoners alive for sacrifice. The Spaniards won because they killed their enemies
