Two dozen new species were discovered in the remote plateau of eastern Suriname (South America), including a frog with flourescent purple markings, six types of fish, 12 dung beetles and one ant species. Heres the article.

Wow! Thanks Morty Approve The rainforest plateau's of central/southern America are fascinating and have an abundance of undiscovered, sometimes mystical inhabitants and settings.
That Atelopus frog looks very bizarre indeed!

12 dung beetles... wow. I would never have imagined there could be so many varieties of a species whose existance is based on dung!

Dungbeetles are cool though, the way they push ahead their precious balls of what the rest of us consider worthless sh*t... Smile

And by golly they are very important to the ecosystem too! They -along with detritus feeders and decomposers- play a major role in removing and recycling waste products...if it weren't for them there would be a lot more ... well ... dung around the place! Very humble and modest little creatures, are those dung beetles Smile

I tried to find a picture of them... but of course all papers have that radioactive frog with the article... Ermm Typical, its always the flashy attentionseekers that win out.

Great pic Aelfgifu! Such an intricately rolled little ball isn't it? Smile You should make a topic on dung beetles, they are too cool! Cool
My contribution:

^ LOL yet to discover that balls roll better...
