On April 2nd, 2007, Veronica Hagen was named Chief Executive Officer of Polymer Group Inc. (a US$1 billion generating company whose main customer is Proctor & Gamble Inc.-makers of Pampers diapers and Swiffer cleaning products) making her the first woman to hold such a position in a top company. Ms. Hagen is 61 years of age, and she began her career by running her own metals industry business. She was the former president of Sappi Fine Paper North American unit, which is a US$1.4 billion company. Prior to that, she was the first female president of Alcoa Inc.
