Is was reading a maganzine and I found so stuff that got me by suprise

What about CCR5? This is the allele for HIV immunity.
 
It is said to have stemmed from a protection from the black plague. IIRC about 13% (+/-) of western Europeans currently have this allele (this was off of a documentary from the 1990's in a Bio-Anthropology class).
