Mummification

Large incision or small. Removed all internal organs but the what? Used a hook and pulled the brain out through the - eew! Which herbs and spices will you never use in your kitchen again? There is still some discussion about exactly how Egyptians mummified their dead. Here are a few links that may help those looking to answer questions.

By far the best website I have seen on the subject is the Theban Royal Mummy Project.  I am convinced that if G. Elliot Smith, the anthropologist who was the first to examine most of Egypt's royal mummies, was alive today, his website would look like this.

There is a great deal of controversy over the British Museum's exhibit of the mummy of the priest Nesperennub.

How do you feel about this type of scientific research into the lives of those long dead.  Is a project like this a valuable research tool or is it an invasion of the eternal rest of the deceased?
