I think these two words themsleves are even similar two each other, my Persian encyclopaedia says about Amards (Mards) as the ancestors of modern Gilakis that they were non-Aryan people of Greek Origin who in the second and first millennium BC lived in the city of Amol (Amoi) and Tonekabon in Mazandaran.
I don't want to say that Gilaki and Greek languages have a common origin but names of some cities, mountains, rivers and other places in Gilan and Mazandaran such as Chalos, Hales, Zanos, Bavandis, Kandelos and even names of people such as name of one of the greatest Iranian historian Dr. Hermidas (read this article of him) are similar to Greek names.
