Muhajir strictly means a muslim who left his home to travel somewhere else due to persecution. As in The Hajj, the pilgramage from Mecca to medina. So the muhajirs of '47 are the muslims who fled india for pakistan. You could apply the word for the hindus who left pakistan for india too if you wanted I suppose.

Mohajir is an arabic term meaning immigrant.In pakistan and especially in urban areas of sindh the term came to be used for urdu speaking muslims who migrated to sindh after the partition.There were some gujaratis and madrasi muslims who came to sindh but they dont call themselves mohajir.
What do you mean by saying that there are much mohajirs in india than pakistan.

Ya I got it.I was looking for the population of Mohajirs in Karachi.

Check out the facts first.The last census in pakistan was done 1998 and in that census the population of karachi was shown at around 9.3 million.The population of urdu speakers (or mohajirs) was put at 48.5% of the total population.Which is much less than two-thirds of the population.But it was felt that the population of katchi abadis (slums) and illegal immigrants has been undercounted.I guess the percentage of mohajirs has declined since last census because of rural-urban migration.According to unofficial estimates the pukhtuns are around 5-7 million in karachi.
