One internet site metioned that the yuan swords would break when facing the samurai im guessing this is based on the hype of uber katana.

In the battles the mamelukes didnt win because superior armament but through poor  tactical decisions by the mongolian generals, one mameluke mentioned that when 7000 mongols faced his 10,000 he thought they would win easily but the mongols struck so much terror into from devastating archery.Homs was a battle which should have been won by mongols but there commanmder was hurt by assasin and left wing of mongols was undisciplined far from the originol mongol army wwhich would never have done that

Having the technology doesn't mean you have the money to distribute it to your army.

The Il-Khanate's army did not live up to Hulegu's army. As said, they made no military progress since Hulegu's reign. Besides their war with the Mameluks, they fought several times against Delhi and made no progress. It is also said that Delhi's cavalry was better equipt than the Ilkhanid cavalry.

Its not just matter of logistics but also matter of motivation.  What could the Mongolians possibly want from the dark age, disease ridden Europe that they couldn't get it from China.  The real question is that whether Europe was worth the hassle for the Mongolians.  Europe's best hope was their shortcomings.

In the mid 13th century Europe was a thriving, expansive region. There were no epedemics, the Black death was still a 100 years away. About the so called "Dark Ages" please check out my essay here
