November 22- Resolution 242

RESOLUTION 242 (1967):

After the six day war between Israel and Arab. It calls for a withdrawal of
Israeli armed forces from recently occupied territories of the recent
conflict (West Bank, East Jerusalem, The Gaza Strip, and more). It was
adopted by the UN Security Council, and was an attempt to bring peace to
the looming conflict between Egypt, Jordan, and Syria against Israel.
Obviously it could not be a forced peace, but its main technique, reffered
to as land for peace would serve as a sort of base for the 1979 Israel-
Egypt peace treaty.

INDEPENDENCE DAY IN LEBANON (1943):

It was this day that Lebanon declared it's independence from the French,
but the declaration would not be recognized until January 1944. This is
something that some blame the Civil War that lasted from 1975 until
2000 on.

LYNDON B. JOHNSON SWORN IN AS PRESIDENT (1963):

It was today that Johnson was sworn in as president of the United States
of America following the assasination of John F. Kennedy. He was sworn
in aboard Air Force One, by Sarah T. Hughes, a federal judge, and very
close friend to the Johnson family. This also made him the first US
president sworn in by a woman. His term was filled with skeptics,
ranging from senators to speechwriters. They wanted to honor what
Kennedy had done, and were not first to jump to agreement with
proposals by Johnson.
