Been searching for someone who could answer this question for a long time now. Reading the posts on this forum the very man might be here...

I'm looking for an index, catalogue, guide, list or whatever you care to call it of all Meso-American codices. Just something that names the lot and anything else, ordering and such, a bonus.

I've read quite a few but have no idea how many exist of what they're called. It's the kind of thing a uni course would hand out by the cartload but try and get one where I live....

Thanks

This may not be the "list," but the list seems good, and it gives a reference for a work from where the site's citations are taken.

Here is a page with references to texts that catalogue the codices.

The page above has the following book

Glass, John B. "Catalogo de Codices." Mexico: Museo National de Antropologia, Instituto Nacional de Antropologia e Historia, 1964.

This may be the "list." Read the description on the page. It is in English.

Have fun and tell me your findings.

Thanks hugoestr

The first one is certainly a great starting point. I'll do some research on the second one later. I notice it calls it a rare book. Maybe I have to check the British Library (ugh!) and the Bodleian both of which claim to have almost every English language book published ever.
