Agreed. Interesting suggestions over here, though!

Maybe we should wait and see if a soon to be upgrade will allow for subforums, then we can do a serious overhaul.

Since many people want different boards for the current American, Indian, SE Asian and African History board, perhpas it's an idea to creata a South Asian Board (for Persia, India and perhaps SE Asia)

Islamic Empires, with links from the European, African and Asian forums, assuming a subforum system.
Have you even been reading my posts?

Besides, Culture is NOT absolute, the islamic/african influence did not magicly stop at Egypts borders, it spread all over Northern Africa and south in to Sudan and Kenya and beyond.
Africa works for Egypt, throughout all time, its not like the rest of the continent is culturaly homogeneous.

well, for most part I completely disagree...for example egypt is geographically part of africa but culturally belongs more or less to the middle east (especially after the arab conquest) same goes for Europe during hellenistic and roman times....it sort of doesn't fit to discuss celts and greeks in the same forum...

Irrelevant, its a geography thing.
Post arabic Egypt = Islamic Empires subforum
During Roman times, and even Greek times, Celts are there in the background, influening and being influences, so its not out of the ordinary that they should pop up they existed side by side, besides, why should Greece and Rome get a seperate forum for ancient era, but not the ancient Nubians of the ancient Indus valley?

Don't you mean Post-Columbian?

We don't need tons and tons of subforums, just 2-3 for each main one, the main one can be just general.
Modern is modern, its not geography spcecific, but having seperate Medival and Rennasiance just creates two under utilised forums (old AE, they were both somewhat quiet), where as you have an East Asian forum that coveres several millenia (hence why it was so much busier).

If your doing Africa on its own, you might want to make sure it includes ancient Egypt and post-roman to early modern N. Africa too, lest it be too empty.

terefore, I wuld leave the forms like they were...just find a pleasant solution for the india/africa/america forum

This is embarassing, but I'll have to take back my first post.

We can't add sub-forums yet. The demo forums that they have are running on an alpha version with new features, but it's not realeased.

I know that with Invision board, you can set mods just for specific sub-forums, not sure about these boards though.

you mean like game reports? this I would support!

Hmm, can sub-forums have their own seperate mods too, just for that (and any other) sub-forum?
This could create more vacancies, so make the mod team more inclusive.

I also wondered about that...probably not but the Mods can divide their attention according to the sub-forum(s)

NOOOO! Ok, we can make Historical amusements a sub-forum of the tavern, but General gaming has to stay independend, it has become my favourite forum by now  .  also, no one ever made a historical role-play...

Hmm, go here - http://forums.invisionpower.com/
They are the main forums for Invisionboard, just have a look around, some of the main forums have sub-forums in them, just to give you a feel of how these forums could look.

That sounds reasonable. What about the old problem of Time and geography? The main forums are split not only geographicly but other times they are split by era.
