I am curious about the Iraqi-Saudi Arabian Neutral Zone between the territories of the two country(it is underlined by me on the map)

Was this zone created after the Gulf War in 1991?Why was it created? It takes a huge area;does anyone live on it?

thanx in advance

I'd imagine very few people would live there, and its just a big spread of desert.

It was created when the British drew the border lines back in the 1920's... there was another one between SA and Kuwait but was simply divided among the two coutries. I think that nowadays (before the Gulf Wars) the Iraq-SA neutral zone was also agreed to be parted by half... so your map is surely not updated.

The northern part of this map was including USSR,probably it is out-dated.

Created way before then. Something to do with wandering nomads or something.
Anyways, its no longer there, newer atlases show the border as normal with no neutral zone.
