Last week a group of 6th formers from my school visited the General Assembly of the UNPO, the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation, that was meeting in the "Peace Palace" here in The Hague.
To my shame, I must admit it was the first I heard of this organisation.
UNPO
The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) is a democratic, international membership organization. Its members are indigenous peoples, occupied nations, minorities and independent states or territories who have joined together to protect their human and cultural rights, preserve their environments, and to find non-violent solutions to conflicts which affect them. UNPO provides a legitimate and established international forum for member aspirations and assists its members in effective participation at an international level.
Here is a map with the participating nations, if you go to UNPO website, you can click to find out more:

I'm suprised the Scots aren't there, they're forever whining about the English stealing their oil.

But they have their own parliamentary representation already, the Scottish Parliament, all 80 Billion pounds of it, and the next British Prime Minister will be Scottish!

There is only one indigenous ethnic minority, other than cross border populations, in today's Germany.
The Sorbs are the last remnants of the Western Slavs that once lived in Eastern Germany and got driven out by the increasing Germanisation starting in the early Middle Ages.
There are probably 60.000 thousands Sorbs living around the Berlin area today.
It is perhabs a bit of a miracle that they survived, especially after the presecutions of all Slavs during the Nazis.
The former DDR preserved and promoted the cultural identity of the Sorbs, facilitated Sorbian schools and other cultural institutions and recognised Sorbian as an official minority language. This has been continued after the reunification.

Even worse, if Malcolm Rifkind wins the election for leader of the Conservatives, none of the leaders of the eight parties in Parliament will be English. And none of them will represent an English constituency.
The only national group in the UK that doesn't have its own Parliament is now the English. (And, oh, alright, the Cornish.)
Mybe the English should be represented in UNPO

The English have their own Parliament, it's located in Westminster and has ever since Maggie Thatcher at least, served mostly the interests of the core English lands around its capital.
That's was the reason the Scots and Welsh wanted their own.
As for Cornwall, it's not so much a country or county but a giant themepark, and maybe should in its entirety to be turned over to Butlin's to run it!

Its a matter of technicality, and only troubles the readers of the
Daily Mail, but, Westminister is the British Parliament, there is no
English parliament. Also, Whilst Welsh/Scotish/N.Irish MPs are
represented in Westminister and can influence British affairs, English
MPs are not represented the regional National parliaments, and have no
say.
This is a matter of grave concern of the readers of the Daily Mail, who assure us, that it is Political correctness gone wrong.
