When we talked about the us navy during the second world war, we would remember Admiral Nimitz , Halsey, or King, but it seem to me that people, even the historians , almost forgot the commander in chief of the Atlantis fleet, who was also an admiral, Royal E Ingersoll
He had the following contribution, Firstly, his fleet fough against the German navy, mostly the submarine

Secondly, he organized the transportation of troop , weapon, and war material, the convoy crossed the Atlantic to Uk

He also defended the east coast of US

Finally, he would also take part in some landing action, such as North Africa, and Normandy.
His work was heavy, his role was important, but his fame was minimal, at least as compared with Nimitz, Halsey, or King
