During an appearance on Chris Matthews’ “Hardball” on Thursday night, Kellyanne Conway, Donald Trump’s former campaign manager and now an adviser in his administration, appeared to make up a fictional “massacre” when justifying the President’s ban on refugees and immigrants from seven majority-Muslim countries.

“I bet it’s brand new information to people that President Obama had a six-month ban on the Iraqi refugee program after two Iraqis came here to this country, were radicalized and they were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre,” Conway said during an exchange on the program. “Most people don’t know that because it didn’t get covered.”

The media didn’t cover the Bowling Green Massacre because no such event ever happened.

What Conway was likely referring to was an incident in 2011 in which two Iraqi nationals were indicted for allegedly having ties to IED (Improvised Explosive Device) attacks against U.S. troops in Iraq.

According to a 2013 release from the Department of Justice pertaining to their sentencing for terrorist activities, “Mohanad Shareef Hammadi, 25, a former resident of Iraq, was sentenced to life in federal prison, and Waad Ramadan Alwan, 31, a former resident of Iraq, was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison.” The two men lived in Bowling Green, Kentucky and according to the release “admitted using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) against U.S. soldiers in Iraq and who attempted to send weapons and money to Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) for the purpose of killing U.S. soldiers.”

There is no information about the men having committed violent offenses in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Conway’s reference to a “ban” from Obama likely alludes to a review of vetting procedures for individuals coming from Iraq which did occur in 2011 as a result of the Bowling Green arrests. It was not a ban though.

These aren't "alternative facts", just plain BS. Better get used to it, they don't seem to have much else.

I wonder if it has now become a competition to see who can be perceived to be the most unhinged, for some unknown secretive prize. Wink
What a handsome figure of a dragon. No wonder I fall madly in love with the Alani Dragon now, the avatar, it's a gorgeous dragon picture.

I've become fairly absorbed by the whole Trump thing. I've never seen such behaviour before from a national leader of the Western World, let alone the so-called leader of the Free World.

In Queensland slang, Trump would be said to have "Foot in Mouth Disease"-every time he opens his mouth, he puts his foot in it. A couple of his senior aides appear to be in competition to outdo him.

Attacks on the media and Supreme Court judges are totally out of order, in this context. Trump could be seen to be in conflict with the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

His attacks on the media are already coming back to bite him on the bum. Politicians need the media in order to get their messages out to the population, and continual rants by Trump are getting him nowhere, but they are selling news papers-we all wants to know what rediculous things he's said and done overnight, and it is turning into a daily fiasco.

Trumps latest effort is to castigate a chain store which declined to stock his daughters fashion line products.

Is this playing by the rules in the US, after all he's supposed to divorce himself from private business interests, be they his or family members?

Comments please.

That's a problem with him, he doesn't think those rules apply to him. He'll probably go nuts today, 3 more chains dropped her line "declining sales".

According to the BBC News site, it seems that some of the major players in Trumps administration are privately voicing concerns over his mental health, and they're quoting his outrageous lies as one of their concerns, others, his attacks on the media and on the Supreme Court judges.

The roundup of illegals in the US, no doubt, will be compared to Hitlers roundup of the European Jews in the late 1930's through the war years.

Other party members are apparently taking bets on whether he'll resign before the next election, or get impeached.

If the media is to be believed, there are some rocky roads ahead for the US.

He has been characterized by several credible sources as "an unstable narcissist, showing signs of early onset Alzheimer's."
I don't know about that but, I do see some similarities in behavior to Dick Nixon, when he cracked under the pressure.
There exists a protocol that would, under the right circumstances, allow the Cabinet and vice president to remove him from office, without impeachment. Unfortunately, most of them seem just as deluded as he is.

Not knowing the credentials of Trumps admin, I can't really comment. Todays news is that his National Security advisor, Michael Flynn, has resigned.

His Press Secretary is sailing very close to the wind, as is another admin member who publicly spoke up in favour of Ivankas' fashion line. Ethicists are screaming foul-which seems appropriate to me.

Other news is some expert saying that Donald is displaying all the signs of early onset Alzhiemers.
