It's impossible for me to forget that date, I was born on it. I grew up in an era that was actually created by the attack that took place 5 years before I was born.
Red Sr's attitude was "No Pearl Harbor, No Hiroshima". The Atomic age would have still happened, but I doubt the Bomb would have been used.
Time has dimmed the impact of that day. It's also dimmed the memories of other battles of WWII. I remember well Red Sr having to explain to HS kids what Iwo Jima was. Some had never heard of it.
Folks my age, [today I hit 70] grew up with the effects of the attack. Many of us knew survivors of Pearl.
Our parents lived through the war, and memories were fresh.
One thing that kept the memories fresh
were TV shows such as "Victory At Sea".
There are now less than 300 survivors left. We owe it to them to continue to remember their sacrifice.
Never Forget!!
