What do you know about Albanian minority in Greece?
Can they enjoy the freedom to live in a European Union member state?

Minority???
I guess you're talking about the immigrants, non-Hellinic citizens.
Well yeah, I guess they do have every right their visa provides.

Things are turning out quite well. Its a big problem Albania has right now also. Albs leaving to Greece are starting to work in their farms and Alb's have to rely more and more from outside foods and this has left many Albanian farms deserted. See my other topic on this.

They have more freedom than Hellens in Albania.Of course racist phenomena exist but the same is for all the Balkans.

The minority issue for Greece falls somewhere in the middle.
There's an increased xenophobia in the country which does not become us. Reasons are many. Main one is cultural since for many years us Greeks were immigrating to other countries, but in the past 20 years we became a country which receives immigrants. Today almost 1 in 10 is an immigrant worker. Out of them, almost 60% are Albanians.
This sudden change has not yet been absorved yet by the Greeks so various nationalist right wing politicians and TV channels feed on that "resistance to change" in order to get votes or televiewing time.
E.g. Crimes by immigrants are being emphasised. One should not forget that since immigrants are the poorest in the country, they're the ones who commit (in proportion) more crimes. Of course if one looks at things rationally, will see that it's still the Greeks who top the crime charts but foreigners who get all the "publicity".
As unemployment rate is almost 10%, many people think that immigrants are taking work from locals. They forget that most of the jobs that they do are those that Greeks do not want for themselves. Construction work, unskilled labor and agriculture.
In any case, at time goes by, these phenomena are recessing and we acknowledge the need for foreign labor as well as the rights that they deserve.
Now, if you want to contribute to the debate, do so by debating and putting your opinions forward, not by shouting and insulting!

Correct way of putting it is does not recognise ETHNIC minorities. Most of the so-called 'muslims' in Thrace are Turks, a fact not recognised officially by Greece, sad to say.
Yorgo Papandreu (ex-foreign minister) was the only Greek official who called them Turks, AFAIK.

I seem to recall that these Turks were allowed to stay in Thrace with the agreement that Greek Orthodox would be allowed to stay in Constantinople. Sad, most of the Christians have been forced out of Constantinople, but the Turkish minority are still in Greece.
As for the Albanians or anyone who enters Greece illegaly, they should be deported without question. I do not think it is xenophobic to want to protect your borders, language and culture. I was in Athens and yes I saw illegals from all over the world, even China and Iraq. The biggest threat is from Muslims nations because Greece will lose its culture and freedoms if the Muslims outnumbered the Greeks. The fact is, like most of Europe, the Greek birth rate is on the decline. One of the few nations in Europe with an increasing birth rate is Albania, so it is possible for the Muslims to outnumber the Greeks someday and turn them to Dhimmis or second class ciitzens. Plus, you have illegals from W. Asia and N. Africa, Muslim nations.
All illegals, including Americans, should be deported right away. The Greeks should use the military and sweep the nation and deport them and who cares what these radical liberal so-called human rights groups say. I ran into some Americans who were there illegally so I am not only picking on Albanians or Muslims. Americanism and its plastic culture has probably done more damage to Greek culture than anything else.
In the words of Michael Savage, "borders, language and culture. I do not oppose legal immigration into Greece and as long as it is regulated it is even good for Greece.

It is not only Papandreu that calls then Turks, with him are many other Hellens. The truth is that there are not only Turks in Thraca. There are muslims of different origin. For this reason,it is called a muslim minority not a turkish one and that's because it is not an ethnic minority.
