Although later the originator would continue working on patterns for the US Navy.

McClelland Barclay was a famous American artist with numerous commercial productions and success. Particularly in the form known as pinup. As well as famous adverttising designs for major American companies. He also did several war posters for the Navy during WWII.

He was appointed a Naval constructor in 1938. Determined to be a Naval Combat artist; LT. Commander Barclay was killed in action while performing duty on USS LST-342, July 1943.
