I have read that king Henry I of Germany gave bones of St. Vitus to Wenceslaus I (from Premyslid dynasty) in 925. But I haven't found any other connection between him and Prague.

Many reasons probably. Venerated first in Rome...his movement into Slavic regions after death was no doubt considered a sacred blessing on the lands.

It is also quite possible that as noted by religious scholars; he became the Christian version and replacement of the Slavic Svantovid.
