Significance for Coronation Day

King Stephen of England had his coronation on Christmas Day, December 25, 1141 at Canterbury Cathedral.      
This was the second coronation for Stephen.          
He first had been crowned King of England on December 26, 1135 at Westminster Abbey.      
Do you think there is significance in the date that the sovereign chooses for his Coronation Day?

And the answer given is: the era context is.. that this was before the dissolution of the church by Hank the 8th. And interdiction and excommunication were still powerful tools.

Consequently the authority of coronations still lay with the church; and the usual-norm, was to select days of commemoration of rulers...saints.. notable church events...feast days... etc.. considered 'good' representatives of the Church. For the coronation event.

Subsequently replaced by the establishment of coronation commissions.

Albeit many years later.

Had it still been the purview of the RCC... it would have been the feast day of 'St.Marcellinus and Peter', among others, when 'Liz the deuce' donned the purple.

King William I of Scotland was crowned on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1165 at Scone Abbey.

The coronation of King Gustav I of Sweden was June 6, 1523.       
The reign of King Charles XIII began on June 6, 1809.

June 29th was a date in the Swedish coronation dates that was repeated.    
Charles VIII (Karl Knutsson Bonde) June 29, 1448      
Christian I June 29, 1457      
Eric XIV June 29, 1561    
Charles XIII June 29, 1809

The coronation date of Holy Roman Emperor Otto II was Christmas Day, December 25, 967.

George IV of Great Britain fixed July 19, 1821 for his coronation.      
This date has significance because George IV was determined that his coronation would be a one-man show.      
His wife Caroline's name had been removed from the prayers to be said at the coronation ceremony.      
Caroline was prevented from entering Westminster Abbey.

Henry VIII of England and his first Queen Consort, Catherine of Aragon were crowned at Westminster Abbey on June 24, 1509.    
What is significant about the June 24th date is that six years previously, one day later, on June 25, 1503 the betrothal of Catherine of Aragon and Prince Henry occurred.

Henry II was Holy Roman Emperor from 1014 until 1024.      
Henry II agreed to return Benedict VIII to his papal throne in return for his coronation as Emperor.   
On February 14, 1014, the Pope crowned Henry II as Holy Roman Emperor.    
This is significant because February 14th is Saint Valentine's Day.
