I found a lot of things over the years out on the Llano and up in the high lonely lonesome. Sometimes in the national forests...sometimes on BLM land..sometimes private.
broken wagon wheels
buckets
washboard
cups
old ammo
coins
miner's lantern-pans
pick and shovel handles
etc. etc.
Some from the early 20th ce. others from the 19th.
Old ranch sites-farm buildings...abandoned surface mine sights...caves are always good.
But
a.
I never took anything..... cept some arrowheads (back when I was about 11) before that was forbidden and...
b. notified authorities of where and when....usually county-state archaeos or museum directors or property owners... later as an adult.
A lot of it was found when I was in college working on a survey crew for summer work. Try holding a rod or using a chain on a 65% grade up around 11-5. Try carrying that pack for 5-6 miles. Put hair on yer nether regions.
c. I never found a rifle especially one of great fame.
Will they solve it? Probably not. But it's great fun trying.
