Also, I take a lot of photographs of local historical landmarks and the like. Hopefully, I can share them with some of you soon.

Welcome aboard Django.  I will be watching for those photos.  I have roots in Ireland.  Local history is often ignored.  In the 1930's an Episcopal minister took thousands of photos in South and middle New Jersey, where I live.  He recorded whole towns, some of which have entirely vanished.  His hobby has turned into a priceless record of towns and structures as they were then.  The Nathaniel Ewan collection has become a source for many historians.

Hi Red Clay, I made my first post over here. Hopefully, I can continue to provide the board with photographs of things that you probably won't find elsewhere on the Internet. 

I agree with your statement about local history. To me, local history is important, simply because it is the smaller events on a local level that often lead to the larger events that we read about today. Plus, I think that local history is a little more intimate in respect to how people lived their day-to-day lives.
