I think that of all the people in your list Winston Churchill was the most contentious.  

It has already been pointed out that how spiteful he was towards Ghandi a man admired by many.

However that attitude was not just restricted to Ghandi, but almost all the  sub-continentals. The history books are full of his quotes, where he tried to denigrate the sub-continentals in any way that he could.

And one of the most startling examples of this attitude towards the sub-continentals is, his advocating the use of nerve and poison gas, against the sub continentals. Defenders of Churchill, will immediately give a reference to one of his speeches, where he gave rational reasons for the use of poison and nerve gas, arguing that if it is all right to kill them, with a bullet, then what is objectionable about, incapacitating them, with nerve or poison gas. Seems reasonable, until you put it in its historical perspective. It turns out that Hitler was affected by a nerve gas attack in world war I and that experience compelled him to take a vow, that he will never use that weapon, against anyone and he kept that vow and both the British and the Germans didn't used nerve or poison gas against each other in world war II, and Hitler also didn't used it against the Slavs, the people which he hated with a passion. And we are taking about a war, in which 20 million Russians died defending their homeland, and a war in which the massacre of Nanking took place, and which ended in the twin atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If a monster like Hitler considered it too in-human to use them against others then just imagine that what a person who actually advocated their use is like.
In Pakistan on the way between Wah Cantt and Rawalpindi there is the statue of Winston Churchill on a hill top . If it was up to me i would order that statue to immediately be taken down.
