According to Haug the Old Avestan angra means "messengers". Angra does appear to be related to OPer. angaros, and the Vedic angiras cult of fire. Were the angiras more closely connected to the settled Ahurians than the Brahmanical castes?
It might be of interest to others if they knew that Avesta is the language used in the ancient texts of Zoroster. That's about all I know.
Perhaps you could give us a little more information.
"Arguing with someone who hates you or your ideas, is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter what move you make, your opponent will walk all over the board and scramble the pieces".
Unknown.
The theory goes something like this: Before Zoroaster the settled Ahurians "lords" subscribed to "laws against the Daevas." Given other forms of Ahuramazda such as Asuramasash in Assyrian Mazda worship was probably even introduced before Zarathushtra, but it was definitely by Zarathushtra's time that Mazda worship had been introduced. The Ahurians are Martin Haugs Angra "messengers" proto-Zoroastrians who according to Haug, Zarathushtra exhorts his followers to revere. Haug's Angra are identical with the Vedic Angira which apparently was a fire cult. My question is really more abou the Angira. Was there anything more Zoroastrian about the Angira of the Vedas than the Brahmans?
