For the nearby city of Spokane, Washington it is the clock tower which was once part of the old Union Pacific train station. They tore down the building and left the clock tower for the 1974 Worlds Fair. Now the whole area where the Expo was is a city park called Riverfront Park. This is a new city compared to the old world but it is now our historic symbol. Spokane became a city in 1888 so it is new by city standards.
