After Reading "War of a Thousand Deserts" I am more convinced the Comanche were the most destructive towards Mexican culture in N. Mexico and the desert southwest. Brian Debry

Thanks Cryptic, yes one of the seminal answers is Seminole! The other is Creek!
As opposed to other radical left wing "cave-ins", like eliminating words like "warriors", "Indians", etc., I feel that at least as long as the Seminole Nation supports the Florida State team, then it will remain "Seminoles!"
The "Seminoles" need to be feared even after Bowden!

Badazz, English 101: 'Righteous"owners would be anyone who thinks they have title to the land, whether they do or not. You could include the Sons of the Confederacy in that group. "Rightful" owners would be those with a legal title, or who can prove that they should be entitled to legal title.

Opuslola, if you have a problem with a post or poster, hit the "report post" button and go thru proper channels. In other words let a mod or admin. deal with it.
A correction, it is not the Creek tribe, it is spelled Cree, no k. And for badazzez edification, neither the Cree or the Seminole surrendered. They were not the only ones either. Not all of the Cherokee went quietly to the west. Large splinter groups simply melted into the wilderness. Some retained their identity as Cherokee, others kept their group name. These were people who called themselves names like, Brass Ankles, red legs, red hill people etc. Andy Jacksons boys were smart enough to know not to go in after them.

Get real and get used to it Badazz, there is no way, now or ever, that any branch of state or federal gov. would ever forfeit even public lands, let alone privately held lands.

Red clay! Sorry, but as you wrote "Cree" is more correct that "Creek!", and it seems my ggg Mother was one of those Cherokees that did not move but assimilated!
But, Wikipedia says this; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creek_War
So, I am not totally incorrect! And as a matter of family fact, I am also related by marriage to a "Weatherford!" So, via marriage, I am also a defacto Creek or Cree!
There fore, there is no Cherokee membership for me! The family name, which I have assumed could be either English or the English version of a commonh meaning is "Burleson!", which I now assume is but the English version of a Cherokee name! I.e., it means "big son" or son of a big son, etc.!
In the current census, I, for the first time, partook of my Native American heritage! But, I would think that soon some of the Obama goons will be at my door? Laugh!
I would suggest that all "Americans" put Native American as their ancestry!
I would certainly blow the Liberal bubble out of the water!
But, dear Eaglecap, I would not go far enough to put the giving away of lands held by years to certain families, to those who have but a "mere" claim to these lands! All we have to have, is for Obama, and his communist friends, is to stack the supreme court with some other "fellow travllers", like the last one! (Soto-mayer?) or Sotomayor; "Sotohttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonia_Sotomayor", and the entire system could unravel!
Please do not laugh! You must know that these people mean to totally transformize America! And, they wish it to become the "Socialist United States of America"!!!
Some of you may well think that I am being unrealistic? Well, please do not hold your breaths while it happens?

Red Clay, I'm confused. The Cree I know live in Canada. The Creeks lived in what is today Louisiana, parts of Mississippi, and Georgia. I was always told that the Creek were one of the five civilized nations. I assume that your Cree have no members named Buffy Ste. Marie and live in the U.S.
As for the Cherokee, they continue to live in Western North Carolina, in and around the town of Cherokee. Long story, but the largest landowner in the area was married to a Cherokee and willed his lands to the Cherokee Nation, and therafter they added to it via purchases of adjacent lands. They were quite emphatic that theirs is not a 'Rez'.

Lirelou, you should have also mentioned Alabama! Laugh!
But, I did not want to be so bold!
PS, I work every day with a lot of Viet-Americans! Perhaps you have family here? Gulfport, Biloxi, MS, etc.?
Perhaps I also know some of them?

My relation!
Most people do not know about the five "civilized tribes!" Kudos!

Madame Lirelou is the Viet member of the family. Most of her family were VC, so most stayed behind, much to their later regret. But she does have a cousin in North Carolina, and nieces in Taiwan, Singapore, and Indonesia. Sometimes where you ended up depended upon where the boat was towed to. I was one of those ugly, long-nosed, monkey-sh** smelling foreigners who advised the Luc Luong Dac Biet (ARVN Special Forces).

My reards to you! You come from a very valiant family, regardless upon which side your family fought!
But, in the long run, it seems, most of the Viet have seen today as a better today! That does not make it better for all of those who suffered before and after the US evacuation! But, it does make for hero's on both sides!
But, you reference to "long nose" makes me smile!
Vive la France!

The Seminols put a good fight against the US. The war against the Seminoles was the most expensive and costly in terms of human life for the United States compared to any other war against the Native Americans.
But outside of confrontation with the Europeans, I'd say the Aztecs, Blackfeet, and Iroquois were very fierce.

What about the Osage-- I know they gave the French hell in Missouri-- I also know the Army used them a lot in the Indian wars in the West

I also stumbled on this--Is this strange behavior for Indians?--a thought a lot of the Indian on Indian battles were bloodless more like counting coup?
In 1833, the Osage clashed with the Kiowa near the Wichita Mountains in modern-day south central Oklahoma, in an incident known as the Cutthroat Gap Massacre. The Osage cut off the heads of their victims and arranged them in rows of brass cooking buckets. Not a single Osage died in this attack. Later, Kiowa warriors, allied with the Comanche, raided the Osage and others.
