I came upon some mighty beautiful Turkish songs that read as a great poetry, so I though, why not share some?
That's one of my faves:
Islak Islak
Gecenin nemi mi düşmüş gözlerine?
Ne olur ıslak ıslak bakma öyle
Saçını dök sineme derdini söyle
Yeter ki ıslak ıslak bakma öyle
Sürerim buluttan tarlaları
Yağmurlar ekerim göğün göğsüne
Güneşte demlerim senin çayını
Yüreğimden süzer öyle veririm
Ben feleğin şu çarkına çomak sokarım
Ben felegin tekerine çomak sokarım
Yeter ki ıslak ıslak bakma öyle
Ne olur ıslak ıslak bakma öyle.
Unfortunately found the English translation that are available somewhat stiff and not really bringing about the complex expression of the poem, but the Russian translation that I found is fantastic, so I'll give it together with one of the English ones:
Tearful Eyes
Has the moisture of the night fallen into your eyes?
Please don't look at me with wet eyes
Pour your hair into my chest
As long as you don't look at me with wet eyes
I plough the fields made of clouds
I plant rains in the chest of the sky
I steep your tea under the sun
I filter it in my heart that's how i give it to you
I put a spoke in the wheel of the fate
I put a spoke in the wheel of the fate
As long as you don't look at me with wet eyes
Baris Akarsu, harica! I posted he song in the music section of the forum.
