You guys know A Canticle for Leibowitz
|
I would say it's in my favorite books of all time list. My favorite scene is when the virgin (creepy two headed lady) reveals herself to the dying priest.

every so often I come across a book I just can't read. Canticle for Leibowitz falls into that catagory. Tryed to read it several times and can't do it. Get four or five chapters in and thats it. "Ancient Evenings" is another in that catagory.

not all flags are added I think, you should ask Cyrus to add your flag.

Same here, I was reading Rober Silverberg's Majipoor series, and I
breezed through the first book, it was really good. The second book,
Valentine Pontifex, I just couldn't get past the 3rd chapter.

Is the Hi, welcome back for me? If so, you can probably see my IP to know who I am...

Good memory , although someone came
and stole my name... But hey, it's all good. Is the option to
have a nickname here on this forum too?

Eh, I registered with this name and I remembered the one I had wanted earlier... but oh well, it's just a name.
Btw, I really like those flags under the avatars...

PM one of the Admins (Cyrus Shahmiri, Imperator Invicticus) and ask
them to change it for you if you want a different name, at the same
time you could ask them for a Bulgarian flag if you want one (not all
countries have flags yet).

I PMed Cyrus. Didn't ask for a name change though, Kubrat is starting to grow on me .
On topic though, I can't believe only one person voted for the Space
Oddysey series... I would have to say they are my 3rd favorite,
after Star Wars and John Wyndham's Choky. And the vote is wrong,
it's not just 2001 Space Oddysey, it's the Space Oddysey Trilogy, with
four books .

Dawn, ur so close to the best parts, I find the first part a bit boring, but you need it to understand all of the story (like the first part of LoTR). Besides in the second book you get to read about St. Poet of the Miraculous Eyeball.

I read them all, but I think Canticle by R.A.Salvatore (from his series Cleric Quintet) was my favorite Sci-Fi book.

I voted for Dune (even though I've never read any of the books). I keep thinking I should read the books so I can get the mantras down. I can spit out 2 off the top of my head
Bless the maker and his water,
bless his coming and his going,
may his passage cleanse the world.
and,
I must not fear,
fear is the mind killer,
I will face my fear,
I will let it pass threw me,
and only I shall remain.
But for the life of me I can't remember the mentaph mantra. Stupid sci-fi network left it out of both their Dune series. Those Dune mini-series are vastly superior to David Lynches 1984 version of Dune. The problem with sci-fi these days is that all the best stuff is on TV and not in print. Stuff like star-gate SG1 and atlantis, Andromeda, Earth final conflict, the new battlestar galactica, Farscape.

I miss the good ole days of Lexx at 7 PM, 8 PM, and 9 PM 'cause it was so damned funny.
Meh, how much can you look at a ship that looks like a giant scrotum?
